Professional career

I have had the great honor of being a teacher and school leader at international schools in Germany for over two decades. My name is Timothy Thomas, I am a U.S. citizen, and I speak English and German. I studied linguistics, history, and education at universities in the U.S.A., Great Britain, and Germany. As a teacher, I worked at elementary schools (I taught first grade) and high schools (as a teacher of German, English, ToK, and Science) in the U.S.A. I have held educational and leadership roles at Dresden International School and Munich International School. My passion lies in designing and adapting schools to address and meaningfully respond to the evolving needs and interests of children and young people.

Contribution to the mission of AGIS

I am the primary contact for questions regarding the recognition of qualifications at international schools in Germany (IB Diploma, etc.). I help to further develop AGIS so that the organization can effectively advocate for the interests of international schools and international teachers in Germany.
