Professional career

My name is Brandie Smith, I am originally from Ontario, Canada, and I am currently the proud Head of the Leipzig International School in Germany. My journey into the world of education began during my university years in Hawaii, where I developed a deep passion for promoting cultural diversity. I started as a middle school history teacher in Hawaii before my career path gradually shifted toward international education. Over the years, I have had the joy and privilege of leading schools in Albania, Kurdistan, and Iraq. I actively collaborate with respected organizations such as the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), in addition to my duties in school leadership. Through these collaborations, I enthusiastically share my expertise with schools around the world embarking on a transformative journey of growth and development.

Contribution to the mission of AGIS

My passion is education, and I am committed to supporting the continuous growth and development of international learning while helping other educational leaders successfully navigate their path. As a dedicated and well-connected leader, I have extensive knowledge and contacts in various educational bodies and organizations, including IBO and NEASC. My understanding of the German context and my current work at the Leipzig International School in the area of works council agreements will undoubtedly benefit the AGIS community.
